Paperless documents policy
MyOwnConference works entirely without paper. We do not print contracts, we do not post invoices, and we do not send physical materials by mail or courier. Everything you need is electronic, and it is either in your control panel or on our website.
Where to find your documents
Your invoices are in the control panel, on the "Subscription" screen. Every one you have ever generated is listed there under "Billing history", and you can open it whenever you need it. How to choose and pay for a plan covers the rest of that screen.
If you pay as a company, fill in your company details on the same screen first, because that is what the invoice is made out from.
The documents that apply to everyone are published on the website rather than sent to you. Those are the user agreement, the refund policy, the privacy policy and the data processing agreement. If you cannot find a particular one, open the online chat and we will point you to it.
Please do not ask for paper copies
We do not provide paper documents, invoices or any other physical materials, and there is no arrangement under which we can make an exception. If you need a document for your accounting, the electronic invoice is the document, and we will help you find or reissue it through the online chat.
Why we work this way
MyOwnConference started in 2013, and the team has been fully remote from the beginning. System administrators, programmers, designers and managers all work from home offices. With no offices to run and no corporate travel to pay for, our carbon footprint stays smaller than it would otherwise be. The arrangement suits the people who work here too, because everyone plans their own day, and the hours that would have gone into commuting go to their families instead.
Data centres are the part we cannot do without, because our platform and the internet as a whole run on them. So we choose providers that take environmental responsibility seriously. Many of them run on renewable sources such as solar panels, wind turbines or hydroelectric power, and they use energy-efficient technology to cool their servers, which brings down both emissions and the total electricity our platform needs.
Erasing the carbon footprint of a business like ours is not possible. Reducing it is, so that is what we work at, and doing without paper is one part of it. We have worked this way since 2013 and we are not planning to change.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find an invoice from a few months ago?
In the control panel, on the "Subscription" screen, under "Billing history". Every invoice you have ever generated is listed there, and you can open it whenever you need it. If one will not come up, open the online chat and we will help you find or reissue it.
My invoice needs my company details on it, how do I get them there?
The invoice takes them from your own account rather than from anything you send us, so set them before you pay and every invoice after that carries them. Already paid and the invoice came out without them? Open the online chat and we will find it or issue it again. Which field holds those details, and how the payment methods differ, is covered by how to choose and pay for a plan.
If nothing is posted to me, where do I read the agreement I am signing up to?
Documents like that sit on the website, published there rather than posted to you. Those are the user agreement, the refund policy, the privacy policy and the data processing agreement. If you cannot find a particular one, open the online chat and we will point you to it.
My accountant wants a paper invoice, can you send one?
No. We do not provide paper documents, invoices or any other physical materials, and there is no arrangement under which we can make an exception. The electronic invoice is the document your accounting needs, and if you cannot find it or need it reissued, open the online chat and we will help.
Why does MyOwnConference work without paper at all?
To keep our carbon footprint down. MyOwnConference started in 2013 and the team has been fully remote from the beginning, so there are no offices to run and no corporate travel to pay for. We also choose data centre providers that take environmental responsibility seriously. Erasing the carbon footprint of a business like ours is not possible, reducing it is, and doing without paper is one part of that.
